School before the lease

For each child, check curriculum, entry year, admission requirements and actual availability. Request a written quotation for the relevant year including tuition, registration, uniform, meals, transport and activities. This site’s Dubai school directory is not a Ras Al Khaimah directory: do not transfer its prices or journeys. Neighbourhood selection should reflect the school actually chosen.

Housing: compare complete costs

Ask for annual rent, payment schedule, refundable deposit, agency fees and applicable utility setup costs. Separately check cooling, electricity, water, internet, parking and maintenance. Procedures and providers can differ from Dubai: do not automatically apply Ejari or DEWA amounts to Ras Al Khaimah. For a purchase, add transaction costs, service charges and a maintenance reserve.

Transport and work: test a real week

Measure any Dubai commute from the home to the workplace at actual travel times. Check who drives the children, whether the school bus serves the address and whether a second car becomes necessary. Compare purchase, finance and rental including insurance, fuel, maintenance and parking. Cheaper housing can lose its advantage if travel costs and time rise substantially.

Annual budget and cash needed on arrival

Separate recurring spending from deposits and one-off costs. Annual expenditure includes housing, school, health insurance, transport, groceries, subscriptions and leisure. Arrival cash also includes advances, deposits, furniture and first school payments. Request insurance quotes matching ages and the required healthcare network; an estimate is not a guaranteed price. The family calculator can organise categories, but its Dubai references must be replaced with RAK quotations before a decision.

What to prepare for useful guidance

Gather children’s ages and curricula, work location, arrival month, housing budget and available equity. Add requirements such as beach access, an extra room, pets, home working or proximity to healthcare. Our questionnaire helps define the property project; a follow-up discussion can identify missing information and compare homes consistent with your real daily life.
